On top of everything else we have to do in the classroom, we have exams! Strong results on these tests do much to bolster the prestige of our institutions and enhance our reputations as teachers. How can we combine the real-life skills that we focus on in class with the test-taking skills that our students need for exams? Building Fluency with Limited Time

In a perfect world, our students study English with us every day. In reality, they don’t have lessons every day. In a less than perfect world, students practice every day they don’t have lessons. What percentage of students can we expect to do that?

We live in a world much less perfect than even that. Still, it is the teacher’s responsibility to lead students to fluent speech in English. We see our students for just a few times a week, and usually only for a few hours. In order to help them reach fluency, we have to use that time in the classroom as efficiently as possible.

In this speech, I will discuss a structured way to build our students to fluent usage of any topic – even in the limited time we have with them. Over time, English will become reflexive, and their speaking results will improve dramatically.
